SCREENWORLDS
CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY FROM FLANDERS

Photography is on the move. Thanks to the increasing technological possibilities of digital photography, pictures are omnipresent,
more than ever before. Day in day out, we are flooded with images that spread as quickly as lightning via the Internet and even cell
phone applications. An evolution that leaves traces among the spectators and at the same time raises several questions. Doesn’t that
abundance imply a desecration of the image? And, in the vortex of (digital) images, do the setting, presentation and the photograph-
er’s name loose value? Also art photographs are no longer unassailable. What remains is the power of the image and the fingerprint
it leaves on the soul.
From that philosophy SCREENWORLDS feels the pulse of present day photography in Flanders through an exhibition and a book.
With clear images by angels & ghosts, Annelies De Mey, Annemie Augustijns, Babs De Cruyenaere, Bert Danckaert, Carl De Keyzer,
Caroline Van Poucke, Charif Benhelima, Charlotte Lybeer, Danny Veys, Debby Huysmans, Dominique Somers, Elisabeth Broekaert,
